JEFFERSON QUARRY

The Jefferson Quarry office building, finished in 2007, rests on a gently sloping site within a half-mile of the Rotunda at the University of Virginia. The owners of the building specifically requested a simple, 40,000 sf, Class A office building that would incorporate selective elements of Charlottesville's rich architectural heritage while providing cutting-edge space for its high-tech tenants. Mitchell/Matthews responded by creating a thoroughly modern, efficient, streamlined, three-story building that interprets Jeffersonian styling in its thoughtful proportions, gracefully curved lobby, and clearly defined entry. the building footprint, floor plan, steel frame structure, building systems, and brick skin were all designed to provide optimum lease, sale, and tenant upfit flexibility.
