LYON RESIDENCE
Designed to meet a specialized spatial prgram mandated by the owners, the Lyon Residence joins other manor homes along a gently curbing avenue lined with trees and fences. Entering the suppressed motor court, after first passing the stately brick facade and copper-clad roof, the visitor is greeted by a pictureesque granite-framed brick entry leading to an octagonal central foyer, off of which the primary rooms radiate. A door on the right leads to a secluded parlor which serves as an anteroom to the master bedroom. A second door, slightly skewd from the center-axis of the entry portal, leads to the family room, where clustered French doors and a soaring clerestory window bring distant trees and a raised brick terrace into view. More informal spaces engage the rear gardens and terrace, which overlook the woods and shelters a small open arcade tucked into the base of the house.
