SOUTHPOINTE

When completed in 2015, Southpointe will be a 37-acres, mixed-use development featuring commercial, hotel, and residential components located on the southern boundary of Charlottesville, Virginia. The design for Southpointe's main boulevard incorporates many of the architectural attributes of Charlottesville's original downtown area, including a pedestrian scale and abundance of opportunities for al fresco dining, while integrating a wide variety of tenants and architecture. The unique ways in which the development's buildings will be unified in scale and vocabulary but diverse in both use and form will be essential in the creation of a viable, lovely, and useful public realm. Mitchell/Matthews is responsible for masterplanning, development of the project's design code, urban regulations, and architecture.
