Over the last twenty years, Mitchell/Matthews has been blessed with staff and an environment that has enabled the firm to steadily evolve. Even though our urban planning, architecture and interior design projects are located in many states, most of the work takes place in an old stone house not far from Thomas Jefferson’s University of Virginia. Our core values are simple. We prize craftsmanship, attention to detail, and concise, classically modern design that is elegant and distinguished. We most enjoy building with natural materials: stone, wood, copper, glass and we strive to create efficient, cost effective, environmentally responsible designs.
This web site provides you with a glimpse of who we are. It is a brief introduction to our values, our experience, our passion. Included here are representative examples of our urban planning, architecture and interior design work. We would prefer to speak to you about your project and will be happy to share more of our work with you in person. We can come to you, but welcome you to visit our office to view the full range of our work, observe our process, and meet the people who will plan, design and implement your project.
