Tyler Hall : Williamsburg, VA
The College of William and Mary commissioned Mitchell/Matthews Architects to provide comprehensive design services for the renovation of Tyler Hall to serve as the new home for the departments of Economics, Government, International Relations and Public Policy. Constructed in 1926, Tyler Hall has served many functions over the decades. In 2016, it will complement the rich history and academic importance of the campus and its legacy.
The design intent of this renovation is thoughtfully portrayed in the careful juxtaposition of classical and modern elements and the implementation of new state of the art facilities. The fully renovated Tyler Hall will not only seamlessly represent the historic nature of William & Mary's campus, but essentially, capture the essence of theMitchell/Matthews design aesthetic: a restoration of character through modern elegance and classical proportions.
